What can play teach us about work (and life)? Round 2 :)

Yesterday, we saw how play helps us appreciate true mastery, what it takes. (link in comment below)

There is more!

I could tell you how I lost a second ship in a game of piracy, how my captain, at the helm, on his way to victory, thinking about riches and glory, was suddenly sunk by a Spanish galleon he failed to notice. I won’t make you cry.

Instead I’ll help you avoid the crushing experience!

Games are rich with data, hints of risks and possibilities
. facts everyone knows:
_ multiple ways to win that are as many battlefields
_ players’ goals that may collide or align… up to a point
_ many moving parts that each can have an impact
_ situations on the board that can change fast
. facts seen or heard in earlier rounds or previous games.
. known unknown:
_ cards other players haven’t played yet
_ possibilities and risks hidden in the deck
_ secret missions and objectives

You must NOTICE IT ALL, and KEEP TRACK OF IT ALL.
That is AWARENESS.
THAT is a skill everyone can use at work and in life!

How did you surprise another player or were surprised?

How to be aware at work and in life?

What are the games in the story and picture?
